The Rejects Episode 10: Updates from Javan Garza
Almost 10 years ago, a group of independent filmmakers applied to the fourth season of Project Greenlight - a reality show that tried to find promising filmmaking talent and give them a chance at the big times. The show was created by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Chris Moore, and the first season premiered on HBO in 2001.
The premise of the show involves a competition where aspiring filmmakers submit their screenplays for the chance to direct a feature film, and the chosen filmmaker is then followed by cameras throughout the process of pre-production, production, and post-production. The show also features a panel of industry experts who provide guidance and feedback to the director and the production team.
After being rejected from Project Greenlight, Javan Garza, David May, and a number of other rejects started a club called “the Rejects.” The goal of the group was to support one another as eveyone chased their passion to make films or other visual art.
It has been too long since everyone checked in with one another, and we are not sure where everyone is at this moment in time, but one thing is for sure, Javan Garza is still putting in the work, and seeing some exciting results.

David May’s Update
David has been focusing on his marketing career, where he still gets to make videos from time to time, but they are not feature-legnth films or comedy short films. Instead, they are short videos to help his nonprofit employer raise funds and awareness to continue their important work.
While David hasn’t created any new short films, he has continued to write concepts and scripts, many of which are avaliable for free at www.pogonacreative.com. People new to the website are provided with a password in exchange for their email address. Most recently, David has written and recorded a fan-fiction sequel to the Back to the Future films, and has written a feature film called “Teardrop” about a couple who were abducted by a twisted killer while camping in their small teardrop camper.
