Movie Idea: Love - Eat - Pray

Log Line:

When his friends start disappearing after getting married, a college-aged praying mantis sets out to uncover the truth and believes he discovers a shocking secret - the wives are eating his friends after the wedding night! With the help of his remaining friends, he risks everything to rescue his buddies from their cannibalistic spouses, in a hilarious and action-packed comedy about the true meaning of friendship and family.

Act 1:

  • Introduce Brandon, a college-aged praying mantis, and establish his close group of friends.

  • The group is at a wedding for their older friend, George, who everyone looks up to.

  • After George should be back from his honeymoon, Brandon calls but George’s wife, Arma, answers and seems to be hiding George’s location.

  • Brandon meets up with the rest of his friends, including his best friend, Marty, and they discuss their growing concern as one by one, their friends start to get married and he sees less and less of them.

  • Marty informs the group of his plans to propose to his current girlfriend, and Brandon becomes worried that he’ll lose his best friend.

  • Brandon is determined to figure out what is happening to his friends, so he begins to investigate.

Act 2:

  • Brandon gathers clues that seem to point to the fact that his friends' wives are eating them after they are married.

    • His friends start disappearing soon after getting married and he can't seem to find them.

    • He notices that he can’t find Marty, and there are no remains when Brandon looks for Marty (other than discarded exoskeletons).

    • He sees his friends' wives looking bigger and plumper than usual - especially Marty’s wife.

    • He finds Marty’s wedding ring and watches in his wife's hiding places.

  • Brandon shares his findings with his remaining friends, and they become increasingly worried and paranoid.

    • They go to confront Marty’s wife only to find her with what appears to be blood on her mandibles.

    • At this point, Brandon's investigation reaches a climax as he gathers evidence that seems to confirm his suspicions.

Act 3:

  • Brandon and his team confront the wives, but they deny any involvement in the disappearance of their husbands.

  • Brandon discovers the twist - that his friends are just spending more time with their families. Especially the ones with kids, which cause the husbands to sleep more and work longer hours.

  • It turns out that the husbands are not being eaten after all.

  • Brandon feels foolish for jumping to conclusions and apologizes to his friends and their wives.

  • Brandon learns to accept and embrace the changes in his friends' lives and relationships.

  • In the final scene, years later, Brandon is on a date himself. on their way out of the restaurant, he holds the door for her. After she walks out, he sees a “wanted” sign for someone that looks just like her.
